Nicki Minaj proves she knows how to throw a party in her latest music video for “Starships.”
Set in picturesque Hawaii, it comes as no surprise to see a silver “starship” land in the water. Shortly after Nicki Minaj appears out of thin air. Clad in a hot pink bikini and neon green hair, the Anthony Mandler-directed clip at first looks more like a video game than a performance video.
As the locals meditate and sunbathe on the beach, they have no idea of all the fun they’ve been missing without Minaj around.
The video alternates from Nicki singing throughout Hawaii’s landscape by day to a glow-in-the-dark bonfire at night. Complete with alternating neon wigs, booty shaking and fire twirlers, the RedOne-produced track showcases Nicki’s party side.
As dancers surround her in silver numbers it is clear that Nicki won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.
Watch the video on VEVO here but you might want to put earplugs in as it’s NSFW.
While Nicki has been readying her music video for the world, it turns out she’s also been busy collaborating with B.o.B. on a track on his much anticipated May 1 release Strange Clouds. The track finds both artists trading verses while trying to out-do each other.
