We’re proud to be Americans, however, we are equal-opportunity eaters when Food Truck Friday rolls around!
Today, Carson invited our lovely friends from north of the border to show us what they’ve got.
Gravy Train showed up in full force this morning to give us a taste of some French Canadian cuisine.
Co-owner Tum explained to Carson why she decided to get into the food truck biz:
Gravy Train specializes in poutine. You’re probably saying to yourself right now, “Wait a minute, what the heck is poutine??”
It’s a staple up north. Poutine is a dish consisting of french fries and cheese curds and it’s smothered in delicious gravy. We love those three things separately and when you put them all together, it’s magical!
Tum grew up in Canada and met her business partner Evan while attending college at McGill University in Montreal.
The two of them moved out to Los Angeles after graduation to pursue careers in the entertainment industry, but they quickly realized that poutine was scarce in these parts.
To satify their craving, they decided to start cooking and selling their own, first out of tents and in March, they upgraded to a full-on food truck.
We had no idea, but Tum informed us this morning that out of the entire U.S., Los Angeles has the largest population of Canadian immigrants…who knew? No wonder their business is booming!
If you want to take part in all the fun, listen to Carson every Friday morning for your next chance to win.
