From Booker

Welcome to another week of “Sample This.”

Today, our pick comes from a duo of French musicians who are known for smashing club singles like “Digital Love”, “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” and “One more Time.”

“One More Time was released in 2000 and added to the their 2001 album Discovery but what you may not know is that the track was sampled from an Eddie John song he recorded in 1979 named “More Spell On You.”

The funny thing is that there is not a lot of information on Eddie besides the fact that he is from Germany and his genre of music is funk soul. Daft Punk denied sampling Eddie John but clearly you can hear the similarities.

One More Time” is Daft Punk’s only #1 single in their home town France and peaked at # 61 on US Billboard hot 100. The song is featured in Wii and Playstation video games and featued #33 on Rolling Stones Top 100 Songs of the decade.
