Memorial Day Weekend is here and you know what that means…it’s the unofficial start of summer!
Erik and Chuy brought in a boatload of food this morning and talked to Carson about what it’s like running a taco truck in Los Angeles:
For Erik and Chuy, operating a food truck runs in their blood.
Erik is a fourth generation trucker and Chuy is second generation. The two actually met as children working for their families’ trucks.
The idea for Gringos Tacos came about while Erik was having coffee with his cousin. They had a spare truck lying around, so Erik decided to develop a concept based around fun, fast, and affordable eats.
The truck, which launched in 2010, specializes in tacos and burritos with a bit of an American twist. Its most popular item, the Del Mar Burrito, actually has french fries inside of it.
You have a choice of ground beef, shredded chicken, or shredded spicy pork for all the entrees or you can opt to go veggie if you’re not the meat-eating type.
And don’t be fooled by the name, Gringos Tacos has plenty of heat to get your taste buds going!
Congratulations to Illiana from East LA! She and her entire office will be chowing down on some delicious grub!
Carson features a new food truck every Friday, so tune in next week for another chance at some free food!
