It’s finally the end of the week and you know what that means…Food Truck Friday!

Carson isn’t one to shy away from some spicy cuisine, so he invited the crew from Los Saigon to AMP Radio to show us how it’s done.

This week’s truck is one-of-a-kind because it specializes in Vietnamese-Mexican fusion.

Brothers and owners Tommy and Andy explained to Carson how they got involved in the biz:

Tommy and Andy have Vietnamese roots, but they were born and raised right here in Los Angeles. That meant they had the best of both worlds when it came to food.

At home, they could get traditional Vietnamese cooking and around town, they could indulge in burgers, tacos, and burritos!

Neither of them had any culinary experience, but when they were at a food fest last year, Tommy suggested they open up a truck of their own. Andy thought he was crazy, but Tommy said, “I know good food and I have an idea.”

And just like that, Los Saigon was born. The truck specializes in banh-mi, which is a Vietnamese sandwich served on a fresh & crispy baguette, but they put their own spin on the dish by using carne asada as the meat. They’ve dubbed it the Chino Latino.

They also serve Saigon Tacos, which riffs off that same idea of blending flavors from different cultures.

Los Saigon made stacks upon stacks of delicious eats, but we couldn’t possibly finish it all on our own. Carson decided to share the wealth with one of our loyal listeners.

Congratulations to today’s winner! They and their entire office are eating for free today!

If you couldn’t get through on the phone lines to win, don’t fret! Every week there’s a new truck, which means you have another chance to score some free food.

For those of you who want to check out Los Saigon on your own time, take a look at their website and follow them on Twitter!
