For those of you that haven’t heard, Nicki Minaj was slated to be the headliner last weekend for Summer Jam, a concert in New York City hosted by hip hop station Hot 97.
Well, all did not go as planned. Prior to her performance, on-air personality Peter Rosenberg dissed Minaj on stage saying, “I know there’s some chicks here waiting to sing ‘Starships’ later. I’m not talking to y’all right now. F— that bulls—. I’m here to talk about real hip-hop s–.”
As soon as the YMCMB family caught wind of that, Lil Wayne pulled Nicki and the rest of his artists from the line-up.
Rosenberg is still refusing to apologize because it’s his personal opinion and he doesn’t have any real beef with the Pink Friday rapper.
There’s been lots of discussion about whether or not Rosenberg’s comments were appropriate and as a fellow morning radio DJ, Carson took out some time today to address the issue.
“I think you can sit there and say it’s ‘wack and corny’ maybe in the realm of morning radio. You can poke fun at that song, I mean I do that all the time,” Carson explained. “But when you’re all there to celebrate with families there and your station has asked that person to headline the act, that’s probably not the best forum to say your opinion.”
He continued, “When and where you choose to express it could get you into some trouble. And by the way, they can’t be upset that Wayne pulled out. If you’re going to say it, you at least have to own it.”
