For the past couple weeks, rumors have been swirling that TODAY co-anchor Ann Curry would be stepping down and today, she finally made it official.
A tearful Curry sat alongside her co-workers to make the emotional announcement.
“Today is going to be my last morning as a regular co-host of TODAY,” she said. “I will still be a part of the TODAY show family, but I’m going to have a new title and a new role.”
Curry will stay on as a TODAY Anchor at Large and National and International Correspondent for NBC News, which means she’ll get to travel the globe to cover stories that will air on TODAY, Nightly News, Rock Center, Dateline and MSNBC.
She also took out time to thank her fans who have supported her throughout her long career at NBC.
“To those of you who saw me as a groundbreaker, I am sorry that could not carry the ball across the finish line – but, man, did I try.”
