Another day, another awesome story about the Olympics.
This one comes out of South Africa.
Double amputee Oscar Pistorius has defied all the odds by qualifying for the individual 400-meter and the 4×400 relay team.
Pistorius lost both of his legs at 11 months old and now runs on specially-designed carbon fiber blades, earning him the nickname “Blade Runner.”
He is the first amputee track athlete to compete in the mainstream Olympics, but he almost didn’t get to go at all because of South Africa’s strict qualifying criteria.
Pistorius turned to Twitter to express his excitement:
Today is really on of the happiest days of my life! Will be in @London2012 for both the Olympic and Paralympic Games!—

Don’t get us wrong, we’re rooting for USA all the way, but we’ll definitely be cheering on Pistorius for a solid second place!
Check out this inspiring ad he made for Oakley.
