Social media is a powerful force!

Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube are tools for sharing funny things and your daily life with friends, family, and strangers across the globe.

It’s also a very important medium for getting out information instantly to the masses all just by hitting the send button.

Consider the uprising in Egypt last year before the country shut off internet and mobile phone services. Twitter, Facebook and YouTube helped spread the word across the world.

Think about the Occupy Wall Street movement as well. It was social media that played an enormous role in organizing protests across our country.

Now to today’s video…it’s the great Nelson Mandela’s 94th birthday today and a group has put together a digital tribute showcasing the history of Mandela and how social media could have helped support and make a difference in his life.

Well done and very interesting to think about! Don’t underestimate the power that you have as an individual who uses these social media tools…who knows, maybe someday it’ll give you the audience you need to make a difference.
