Rick Ross has high praise for his royal collaborators Dr. Dre and Jay-Z, who sizzled the internet last night with “3 Kings,” a new song from Ross’ God Forgives, I Don’t

“”You already know ‘3 Kings, ‘ I feel it’s the biggest collaboration in hip-hop,” Maybach Music boss told MTV of the much talked about song. “Not just this year, maybe previous years.”

Indeed, the buzz surrounding Ross’ star-studded track has been highly positive. “3 Kings” has managed to capture the imagination of fans because, after all, it’s not everyday the legendary producer Dr. Dre jumps on a song. Add the headlining likes of Jay-Z and one of the hottest emerging boss MCs in the game, Rick Ross, and you have an event record that actually lives up to the hype.

But according to Rozay, the collaboration happened surprisingly easily.

“I got on the phone with Dre and we just talkin’ about collaborating and he was gonna come down to Miami for the first time to record with me in my element, in my zone,” Ross told MTV of how “3 Kings” track came together. “He came to Miami. I walked in the studio, I seen big homey, I turnt up,” Ross recalled. “First night in the studio we went and did five records.”

But Ross didn’t stop there. For his upcoming solo album, God Forgives, I Don’t, the Miami rapper envisioned an even bigger statement. So he called past collaborator Jay-Z to add his indelible talents to the Jake One-produced track. “Jay-Z, that’s my big homey man and from day one anything I’ve ever asked O.G. for he always came through for me, so it’s vice-versa,” he said. “He got a gangsta right here for life. “We cooked up a masterpiece,” he added. “This is a big joint right here.”

But Dre and Hova are not the only heavyweights that are set to appear on God Forgives, I Don’t. Andre 3000, Usher, Ne-Yo, and Drake are among the acts that show up on the July 31st release.—Keith Murphy, CBS Local
