The Olympics opening ceremony doesn’t go down until tomorrow, but the competitions have already begun!
The U.S. women’s soccer team played its first round against France and it was a nail biter for awhile. They were down 2 goals before rallying to win the game 4-2. USA! USA!
This year’s squad has a lot to live up to. The U.S. women’s team won gold in both Athens and Beijing.
The Olympic Games also experienced its first big blunder yesterday. During the North Korean v. Colombia soccer game, organizers accidentally displayed the South Korean flag when introducing the North Korean team. Oops!
The two countries aren’t exactly friends, so you can imagine the kind of uproar this caused.
The North Korean team refused to take the field for about an hour, but they later went on to beat Colombia 2-0.
