We hate to break it to you, but it’s officially back-to-school season.
This morning, thousands of eager freshman are flocking to the USC campus to move into the dorms.
It’s the beginning of Welcome Week, which features tons of events, seminars, tours, and of course, the big pep rally!
I graduated from USC a few years ago, so I filled Carson in on what to expect this week:
Today, most people will spend the day unpacking and getting to know their new roommate, but throughout the rest of the week, there’s plenty of activities to enjoy.
Take advantage of this great weather by heading out to the beach. In the past, USC has offered free shuttles so you can get your tan on.
Need to make a few bucks? Hit up the job fair so you can lock down your first college job.
If you’re feeling a little disoriented on campus, they offer plenty of tours to new students, however, I recommend grabbing a map and exploring with your roommates. It’s a great way to get to know each other without the awkward ice breakers.
Don’t forget about the Dive-In Movie. A few times each year, USC sets up a movie screen at the McDonald’s Swim Stadium and you can watch the flick from the comfort of your own beach chair or inner-tube! On Thursday at 9 p.m., they’ll be screening The Avengers.
All of these festivities lead up to the big pep rally and concert, which is a can’t miss. The football team will take the stage to pump up the crowd, the legendary Song Girls will be cheering away, and the Trojan Marching Band will provide the tunes.
They also usually have a band come out to play. When I was a freshman, it was They Might Be Giants. It’s all free, so why not get out there and hang with your fellow classmates?
On behalf of the Trojan family, welcome new students! Although Carson likes to kid around, USC isn’t nearly as dangerous as people say it is. I mean, come on, I went there…how scary can it be??
And oh yeah…Fight On!
