We first told you about Andrew De Leon, the goth opera singer on America’s Got Talent, a couple months ago when he blew away the judges with his powerful voice.

It was shocking to hear that sound come out of the 19-year-old, who was dressed full-on in goth clothes and makeup.

He was later axed from the competition, but was given a second chance during the wildcard round.

De Leon advanced to the semifinal round this week after receiving rave reviews from the judges and a standing ovation from the audience.

“You were probably the biggest surprise of this season,” judge Howie Mandel told De Leon. “I think tonight is the night of redemption. You redeemed yourself.”

Howard Stern agreed adding, “I thought you were the breakout star of America’s Got Talent. We were magically transfixed. Now you come out to Vegas and you were horrible. You were awful. Tonight you got past it. You were terrific. You did a great job. A night of redemption. It was spectacular for all of us.”

Carson, however, was not so impressed. As host of The Voice, he’s seen his fair share of singers and he thought this was mediocre at best.
