Everybody has an opinion about Los Angeles. Some people think its a smog-filled hell hole and others think it’s one of the most beautiful cities in the country.

To each their own I say. Every city has its own unique beauty and its darker side whether it’s Milwaukee, New York, Chicago, or San Francisco.

I’ve been fortunate to live in a handful of different cities and it’s the way you live in your city that lets you appreciate it.

I grew up skateboarding, so that allowed me to see a different side to whatever city I was living in…I’d see cool architecture in a dingy alleyway or great graffiti under a run-down bridge or experience the beautiful waterfront skating at Pier 7 in SF.

Even here in Los Angeles, surfing has provided me with some remarkable views of our city. Whether it’s a secret spot with nobody around for miles or a packed wave in Malibu, you have to find those moments and appreciate them when you do…which leads us to today’s video: “Nightfall,” shot by cinematographer Colin Rich.

It’s a time-lapse from Downtown to Santa Monica and beyond of our great city transforming from day to night.

Get out and have a look around in a different way…you never know what you might find.
