KTLA Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing After Catching On Fire
The KTLA helicopter unintentionally became breaking news yesterday when it caught on fire yesterday in the skies about Hollywood.
The chopper was monitoring a suspected gunman when all of a sudden, the cockpit started to fill with smoke.
Somehow, in the middle of rush hour, the pilot was able to find an empty parking lot at Highland Boulevard and Franklin Avenue to make an emergency landing. Both he and a cameraman made it out of the helicopter safely.
Officials say the malfunction was likely caused by an oil leak.
It was all caught on video by the CBS2/KCAL chopper. Our favorite part has to be when the 24-year-old cameraman calls his mother on air! Poor guy!
