After Billie Joe Armstrong’s strange outburst in Las Vegas over the weekend, Green Day canceled all of its appearances so the band’s front man could seek treatment for substance abuse.

One of those canceled appearances was Jimmy Kimmel Live.

The late night show called upon Alanis Morissette to fill in and she opted to honor Green Day with a cover of their hit song “Basket Case.”

But Alanis didn’t just perform a carbon copy of the original track. She made it slower-paced and angst-y, something she clearly excels at. Take a listen!
