With all the Chris Brown/Rihanna sightings lately, we figured it was only a matter of time until Brown called it quits with his current girlfriend, Karruche Chan.

“I have decided to be single to focus on my career. I love Karrueche very much but I don’t want to see her hurt over my friendship with Rihanna,” the singer said in a statement on Thursday. “I’d rather be single allowing us to be both be happy in our lives.”

The break up comes as no surprise to us. Just yesterday, Perez Hilton told Carson about a possible Rihanna/Chris Brown hook up in the bathroom of an NYC club.

The pair were also spotted together at Jay-Z’s concert at the Barclay’s Center on Wednesday night.

So far Rihanna has been staying quiet, but Chan seemed to hint about the split on Twitter:

Brown is still on probation for beating Rihanna back in 2009. A judge is currently reviewing his community service and travel to determine if he violated the terms of his probation.
