Okay let’s face it. Detox is probably never coming out. Dr. Dre can tease us all he wants, but the legendary rapper most likely will never drop another album anytime soon. What we can look forward to is Dre helping emerge new artists. It worked pretty well for Eminem.

While, Kendrick Lamar might not be the next Slim Shady, he’s currently on the rise to bring hip hop back to the West Coast. The “Compton” singer performed Wednesday night at Club Nokia for the BET Music Matters Tour. During his song “Compton,” Dr. Dre surprised the audience by taking the stage. He performed his verse from the track, and hung out to help perform “The Recipe,” which off Kendrick’s new LP good kid m.A.A.d.

It’s great seeing Dre back on stage, especially doing club gigs this small. It seems like he is sharing his Compton roots with Kendrick by taking him under his wing. We can’t wait to see where Dr. Dre pops up next.

Kendric Lamar’s LP good kid m.A.A.d is due out October 22nd.
