I’m a big fan of documentaries and independent films.
There’s something about the aspect of filmmaking outside the major film studio system that brings out the artsy side of telling a story or in the case of documentaries, telling some sort of a story or delivering a message that you can learn from to hopefully better yourself.
In the case of “Where I’m From,” Jay-Z’s documentary that just dropped today, it’s more of a behind-the-scenes look that chronicles his eight-night stand at the newly opened Barclays Center in New York.
The 24-minute film shows Jay in rehearsals in addition to footage from his eight-night residency at Barclays and what it took to build the new arena in his hometown of Brooklyn, along with its impact on the city.
Some explicit language is featured in this documentary, so watch at your own risk.
