DJ/producer Diplo has taken to social media in support of 23-year-old Colorado resident Carly McKinney, who has been placed on administrative leave from her job teaching math at Overland High School after provocative photos of the woman were shared on the Twitter website.
Among the racy images posted by the now-deleted account @crunk_bear was one of a topless McKinney “twerking,” an acrobatic dance move that she tweeted to Diplo with the hashtag #Expressyourself.
“Express Yourself” is the title of a popular dance track by Diplo, with the DJ turning the song title into a promotional campaign, using the hashtag as a way for female fans to send him the lascivious shots that he often retweets. He retweeted McKinney’s photo, and now that she’s being disciplined, he’s throwing his considerable social network weight behind supporting the first-year math teacher (the DJ has more than 825,000 followers).

According to 9News, McKinney and a friend created the @crunk_bear as a parody account, posting the intimate photos and making drug references. McKinney also claims that many of the posts were made by the friend without her knowledge or consent.
Officials of the Cherry Creek School District are currently determining if McKinney violated policy regarding social media, with a meeting scheduled for next Tuesday, February 5, to decide if she’ll be allowed to keep her job.
Diplo and his cohorts in the dance act Major Lazer are among the many bands scheduled to appear at this year’s Coachella music festival in April, which will be headlined by Phoenix, Blur, the Stone Roses and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
