The GRAMMYs are here and set to launch this Sunday at 8 p.m. on our very own CBS 2 from the Staples Center. There are plenty of AMP artists nominated including Fun, the Brooklyn group is nominated in four categories Record, Album, Song, and Best New Artist. They are the first to be nominated across the board like that since the great Amy Whinehouse back in 2007, if they sweep all four it will only be the second time it’s happened in the 55 years the Grammys have been around. For today’s Viral Video of the Day I thought I’d share a few of my picks in some of the categories.

First up Record of the Year:
The Black Keys – “Lonely Boy”
Kelly Clarkson – “Stronger”
Fun. feat. Janelle Monae – “We Are Young”
Gotye feat. Kimbra – “Somebody That I Used to Know”
Frank Ocean – “Thinkin Bout You”
Taylor Swift – “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”

Strong category…big fan of the Keys, Clarkson and Frank Ocean but I have to go with the hit making machine that is Taylor Swift.

Second Best New Artist:
The Alabama Shakes
Fun
Hunter Hayes
The Lumineers
Frank Ocean

Got to go with the Alabama Shakes for this one even though I doubt they’ll pull it out but to me, they’re just to good of a band not to cast my vote for.

Third Song of the Year:
Ed Sheeran – “The A Team”
Miguel – “Adorn”
Carly Rae Jepsen – “Call Me Maybe”
Kelly Clarkson – “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)”
Fun – “We Are Young”

Again love me some Clarkson, she’s the original hit maker of female anthems that are so catchy with her powerful vocals but no way Carly Rae shouldn’t win this category with her hit that swept the nation “Call Me Maybe.”  Video has over 400 Million views…wow!

Finally Best Rap Album:
Drake, Take Care
Lupe Fiasco, Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album, Pt. 1
The Roots, Undun
Nas, Life Is Good
Rick Ross, God Forgives, I Don’t
2 Chainz, Based on a T.R.U. Story

Have to go with Drake’s Take Care for this one.  It’s his second studio album and it’s really good, I dig the down tempo style and it’s atmospheric sound.  Tough category though whenever you’re up against Nas.
