We are rapidly approaching the most romantic day of the year…Valentine’s Day!

There’s a lot of pressure for couples to up the love ante for this holiday. In fact, roughly 10% of the year’s proposals happen on this day.

That got Carson thinking, are you expecting a marriage proposal on Thursday? Would you even want your special someone to pop the question that day or do you think it’s lazy and cliche?

Our lady listeners called Carson to voice their opinions and you might be surprised at what they had to say!

Stephanie was in a lovey dovey mood because she recently got engaged, but she’s glad her fiance chose to propose on a random day.

“I don’t think it’s a horrible idea. I think it’s sweet,” she told Carson. “I think it’s a nice gesture, if you will, but, I’m coming from a place where I was just proposed to this Saturday. To me, it was just a lot more special and different and unique, and that’s not taking away from the people that want to celebrate it or, you know, or be proposed to that day.”

But not everyone was so subtle about their opinions. One caller said she’d turn down her boyfriend if he got down on one knee on Valentine’s Day!

“I would say absolutely not! I would say no. I would say you could pick any other day. There’s 364 [other] days to do this and I’m not a big Valentine’s Day person anyway,” Michelle in Huntington Beach explained. It’s propaganda, so for you to propose to me on that day, like really? Like Christmas and Valentine’s day, don’t do it.”

Kelly in Ontario was actually proposed to on Valentine’s Day and her marriage is still going strong nearly 21 years later.

“I know it sounds corny, Carson, but believe me. We’re not big Valentine’s people and we knew that that was kind of the next step in our lives. We were going to get married and I knew he was going to propose to me. It was totally him. He totally planned everything.”
