It’s been a tough year for Laker fans with the star-studded team having a 25 – 29 record going into the All-Star break over the weekend, which means they’re a long shot at making the playoffs.
Word came yesterday of the passing of longtime owner Dr. Jerry Buss.
Dr. Buss earned a doctorate in physical chemistry and was said to have had a tough life, but then took a $1,000 real estate deal and turned it into one of the biggest franchises in NBA history, not to mention his greatest achievement outside of his 10 NBA titles…his creation of the Laker Girls! Well done Dr. Buss, well done!
The NBA All-Star game took place over the weekend and it was also the greatest to ever play the game’s 50th birthday, Michael Jordan.
There’s much debate over who the best-ever to play the game is and who the best current player is, so when asked who is the best at the moment, Michael gave a much-respected answer to Laker fans everywhere and chose Kobe Bryant.
“Five beats one every time I look at it,” said Jordan.
Kobe agreed and said, “When I was growing up, Shaquille and myself, we were both measured by championships…For us it was championship or bust. It wasn’t about MVPs, it wasn’t about numbers. It was about, if you don’t win a championship this year, you’re a failure.”
