Ladies and gentlemen, it’s the end of an era.

Since 1938, our backyard has been home to two massive radio towers. Many moons ago, that’s how our stations were broadcast over the air.

It’s a landmark here at AMP. You can spot the metal structures all the way out on the 10 Freeway, which is sort of comforting to all of us who are proud to work here every day.

Well it’s all coming to an end this afternoon. Crews are yanking down both towers to use the land for other projects.

Carson was shocked that the news crews didn’t show up in full force to cover today’s demolition.

You may remember that before he worked at AMP and even before MTV’s TRL, he was a DJ at our sister station KROQ, so this place feels like home to him.

“Every day when I drive to work when it’s dark out from Santa Monica on the 10 Freeway East, our exit is Fairfax and pretty much all the way from the beach, I can almost see these two enormous, 300 or 400-feet high towers,” Carson explained. “We have new towers now that we transmit from from this building.”

Carson was so intrigued by all the commotion, he set up camp outside to watch the whole thing come down!

So now…the moment you’ve all been waiting for. Here’s how it all went down! (Pun intended)
