Rap Quotes Street Signs: Surfer Stephen’s Viral Video Of The Day

I live in the Fairfax District and every morning on my way to work I drive through the intersection of Wilshire and Fairfax.

If you remember, it was 16 years ago in 1997 when we lost the great Christopher Wallace, a.k.a. Biggie Smalls.

It all went down at that intersection of Los Angeles and every time I drive by there, I’m bummed that there isn’t something that recognizes the history of that spot.

Well, a street artist from NYC named Jason Shells has a new project that I thought was a pretty rad idea.

He is marking the city with street signs he made that display hip hop lyrics that reference specific locations.

Shells takes the signs, which feature lyrics from Kanye, Jay-Z, GZA, Mos Def, Nas, and more, then places them at the actual locations within the city that inspired the lines.

There is so much history in Los Angeles when it comes to music, and most cities for that matter.

Think about how cool it would be if the city got behind something like that? Would be rad…get a little musical education on your way to school or work every day!
