Unlike season 3’s supersized 16-person teams, this time around, each coach on The Voice only gets to cherry pick 12 contestants from the blind auditions.
The pressure to build to most talented team is building and you know what that means…the claws are coming out!
“I thought there was great personality in the episode between the coaches,” Carson said this morning. “They’re really hitting their stride.”
After an entire episode of battling it out, one of the coaches was successful!
Listen to Carson’s recap find out who was victorious:
Warren Stone, “Colder Weather”
The South Carolina firefighter brought the audience to their feet and convinced three of the coaches to spin around.
Adam was the first to turn around and campaigned hard to finally lock down a country act.
“I am so ignited by what you have just done. I know you’re going to be a huge country star, I just friggin’ know it because that’s how good you are!” Levine said. “I’m throwing myself out there on the table, I’m on the chopping block. I’m going to be pissed off if I don’t get you.”
Karina Iglesias, “I’m The Only One”
Things got downright feisty when Karina Iglesias sang her heart out onstage.
Immediately afterwards, Shakira was beating herself up because she didn’t press her button. She began to apologize to Karina in Spanish, but Levine became so frustrated about the language barrier, he couldn’t help but blurt out “Callate!” or in gringo-speak, “Shut up!”
“I’ll tell you what. Say that to a pregnant Columbian, you better look out!” Carson laughed. “Or you better get out of your big, fat red chair and go give her a hug and that’s exactly what he did.”
Luckily, the outburst didn’t hurt his chances. Karina chose Team Adam.
Garrett Gardner, “Seven Nation Army”
Another great story featured Monday night was that of Garrett Gardner. The 16-year-old had auditioned last season shortly after the death of his father, but failed to pique the coaches’ interest.
Gardner returned to the blind auditions, reinvigorated by the advice Blake Shelton gave him.
“I thought it was a really cool, sort of reggae version of The White Stripes,” Carson mentioned. “Shout out to Paul Merkovich, our band leader at The Voice, who just whipped up that very cool version of the song.”
“I was so pissed when you guys didn’t pick him! So pissed!” she exclaimed. “You’re stuck with me, I’m sorry.”
The blind auditions continue tonight at 8pm PT on NBC with one of the biggest voices in the competition coming from one of the youngest contenders!
