They say history repeats itself and music is certainly no exception.

Over the past couple months, Carson and Producer Angie have noticed a new pop music trend…the resurgence of 1970s funk!

Justin Timberlake’s “Suit & Tie,” Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky,” Producer Angie’s latest obsessionRobin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines.” Even Bruno Mars is getting in on the action with his track, “Treasure.”

We’re not quite sure why funk is finding its way back onto radio airwaves, but we’re not complaining!

“It feels like disco, funk. It’s just fun, right?” Carson said Thursday morning.

“I mean, that Daft Punk song, ‘Get Lucky,’ is just awesome,” he added. “That’s got to be one of the best songs we’re playing.”

Another great thing about this trend? It’s inspiring some truly awesome mash-ups!

Here are a few of Carson’s favorites:

And in case you’re not hip to that new Bruno Mars tune, take a listen to “Treasure” below:
