The heat is on, and no, we’re not just talking about the competition.
The Voice was overtaken by triple-degree temperatures Monday night and things got downright sweaty when the A/C broke.
Suit jackets were coming off, Blake Shelton had someone fanning him at every commercial break, and coach Usher stripped down in front of a live audience!
“The network was like, ‘It is what it is. Make sure and mention if it gets any hotter, the lights and power could go out!’” Carson explained.
But as they say, the show must go on! The contestants powered through the unbearable heat and put on some impressive performances.
“Holly Tucker comes to mind,” Carson said. “She was belting that Martina McBride song when it was hot in there.”
“And she did it like it was nothing too!” Producer Angie added.
“I’m looking at the iTunes charts now,” Carson added. “Not that it’s the ultimate indicator, but The Swon Brothers charted the highest overnight. They’re at #19.”
The last remaining duo left in the competition paid tribute to country music legend George Jones, who recently passed away.
They’re followed closely behind by Josiah Hawley at #22, Danielle Bradbery at #23, and Sarah Simmons at #24.
Carson prefers to remain impartial since he’s the host of the show, but he did make one bold prediction.
“The women on the show will be the ones standing at the end. No offense to the fellas, but when you look at Danielle Bradbery or a Holly Tucker or a Sasha Allen or a Judith Hill, or an Amber Carrington or a Sarah Simmons, these are all girls, women, who give powerful performances every single time they hit the stage.”
