After a emotional performance night on The Voice, the singing competition series began Tuesday’s elimination episode on a similarly somber note.

Blake Shelton, joined by his wife Miranda Lambert, took to the stage to pay tribute to the victims of Monday’s devastating tornado in Oklahoma.

The couple looked close to tears while singing their award-winning song, “Over You.”

After encouraging everyone to donate to the relief effort, Carson got right down to business, announcing who escaped the cut from 10 to 8 contestants.

Take a listen to his AMP Radio recap…WARNING: Major spoiler alerts ahead!

“I’m not supposed to show favoritism being in the middle of that circus,” Carson said. “But I have to say I was happy for The Swon Brothers. They also are from Oklahoma. They’ve been having a tough week and they’re here in California, so I was happy to see them.”

Both Blake Shelton and Adam Levine’s teams escaped unscathed for yet another week, which means Shakira and Usher are down to their final artists. Michelle Chamuel will soldier on for Usher and Sasha Allen, who Shakira actually stole from Adam during the battle rounds, will also continue onto next week’s episode.

Should the newest coaches of The Voice start shaking in their boots? Producer Angie says not so fast!

“Those are two good anchors!”
