“The FINAL Countdown!”  It’s go time!  The San Diego Half Marathon…..the big 13.1 miles is going down this Sunday.  The months of training, running, training, hills, running, training all comes down to this.  I spoke with Booker earlier and he’s ready to go, I’m still prepared to carry him across the finish line if need be and I’ve been practicing my dodging skills in case he decides to throw his shoes at me.

This week I definitely wanted to NOT go too hard when it came to training.  I hiked/ ran Runyon Mon-Wed-Friday and ran about 4 miles on Tues and Thursday. I also consumed water every day to keep myself nice and hydrated for race day and recovered each of my workouts with Muscle Milk.  MM has a great blend of healthy fats, good carbs, protein and it tastes good.

As for race day I’m ready to go with my fuel belt (carry cell phone, keys, ID), Ironman Triathlon watch for intervals, Nike Fuel Band for calories/ steps/ goals, shoes, shorts, socks, Muscle Milk, glasses and hat….bam personal checklist complete.  I also found that it will save you time to put your running bib on your race shirt the night before.  That way you’re ready to go in the morning.  With that said I hope to see you Sunday at the San Diego Marathon…keep running!

And remember, whether you’re running 100 meters or 100 miles, runners need protein to go the distance and win.
