The Tony Awards, which commemorate the great Broadway plays and musicals over the past year, went down in NYC last night, but it’s not the winners who are making headlines this morning.

Instead, it’s host Neil Patrick Harris who caused quite the controversy.

This morning, he’s staunchly denying that he dropped the N-word during his opening number.

Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, who starred in a one-man show on Broadway this season, joined Harris on stage when according to the Daily Mail, it sounds like Harris sings, “Is I his n***a?”

Carson and Producer Angie couldn’t believe their ears when they listened back to the audio this morning:

Harris took to Twitter this morning to shoot down the shocking claim:

The controversy didn’t seem to affect the Tony Awards ratings. Viewership was up 20 percent.
