Even in the surreal world of soap operas, a recent cameo by Snoop Dogg on long-running daytime drama One Life to Live stands out on sheer absurdity alone.
In clips that ran last week on TOLN.com and Hulu, the rapper, assuming his older, wiser guise of alter ego Snoop Lion, sits down with teen character Matthew Buchanan (played by actor Robert Gorrie) to offer some father advice, since according to Snoop, “word on the street is you’re a daddy now.”
Not even 20 seconds into their heart-to-heart talk, Snoop Lion casually lights up a marijuana-filled blunt, adding, “you are really, really aggravating me right now.”
The rapper goes on to offer the blunt to the young character, only to pull it away (“your parents would kill me”), espousing his street wisdom with the caveat, “they don’t teach you this sh** in school.”
Snoop Dogg has been hard at working promoting Snoop Lion, releasing the reggae album Reincarnated earlier this year, including a documentary film of the same name. The album’s most recent single, “Ashtrays and Heartbreaks,” features pop star Miley Cyrus, who the rapper told E! News was “awesome” to work with.
“She was somebody who fit the record, she had the right energy, the right spirit, the right soul and it’s just the right tone right now,” Snoop added.
