Ask and ye shall receive!

It’s officially raining cronuts in the AMP Radio studio just a couple days after Carson first mentioned he had a craving for the latest and greatest breakfast fad.

We special ordered the croissant-donut hybrid from DK’s Donuts & Bakery from Santa Monica and then our friends from Knott’s Berry Farm surprised us with some of their own that they whipped up on the fly!

The craze originated in NYC, where people were paying upwards of $100 for ONE cronut on the black market. Yup, there’s a black market for cronuts.

“It looks like all the ingredients of a churro, just presented completely differently,” Carson said. “There’s like a cinnamon sugar on top. There’s a little dallup of whipped cream and these ones are halved, so when you open it up, I mean, it really looks like a donut and a croissant mated!”

And then the moment of truth finally arrived. Carson took his first bite…

“It’s not as sweet as a donut and it’s not as flaky as a croissant, but it’s still really delicious,” he described. “It’s pretty spot on perfect. I can see why these are all the rage though, you know?”

“I’m not a huge croissant fan, but if you mix it with a donut, you can’t go wrong!” Producer Angie added. “I’m on board with this.”

Plan to shell out a pretty penny if you want a piece of the action. It’s not nearly as bad as NYC, but the average price runs about $5 per cronut…that’s supply and demand for you!

There’s no way we could finish the 3 dozen, so we sent some over to our buddies at the KTLA 5 Morning News. They were more than happy to indulge and even called up Carson to personally thank him.
