Florence Welch, lead singer of Florence and the Machine, knows her way around a cover song. In 2009, she took on Beyonce’s “Halo” during a performance on the BBC’s Radio 1 Live Lounge. More recently, she tackled Icona Pop’s Charli XCX-penned hit “I Love It” with Dev Hynes (AKA Blood Orange) while participating in a June Human Rights Campaign Equality Rocks benefit in New York City.
It was a much more relaxed setting this past weekend (July 19) when Welch joined the band Sourberry at the South London Pacific bar for impromptu performances of Daft Punk‘s recent smash hit, “Get Lucky” and “Standing in the Way of Control,” the 2006 single by the Gossip.
In the video clip posted by the band to YouTube (above), Welch can be seen hoisting a shot of tequila while singing “Get Lucky” to a handful of fortunate patrons in attendance, pausing to down the shot and toss the glass towards the end of the song.
