We admit it. We totally fell for it.

When a video of the worst twerk fail EVER started making the rounds, we couldn’t help but watch it on repeat.

The 37-second clip showed “Caitlin” attempting to make a sexy twerk video for her boyfriend. All hell breaks loose when her roommate suddenly barges in and sends Caitlin flying into lit candles.

Some conspiracy theorists questioned the authenticity and for once, they turned out to be right!

Jimmy Kimmel, of all people, was behind the hoax and revealed the truth to America Monday night.

“We shot the video about two months ago,” Kimmel explained. “We put it up and didn’t send it to any TV station. I didn’t tweet it, we didn’t put it on any websites. We just put it up on YouTube and let the magic happen.”

Dozens upon dozens of news shows picked up the story, broadcasting it as fact, but it turns out the video star is actually a stuntwoman named Daphne Avalon.

“I got numerous Facebook [messages] … texts …” she told Kimmel, including one from an old high school boyfriend who was very concerned!
