BREAKING NEWS!!

Okay, not really, but now that Carson is officially part of the TODAY show news crew, we like to whip out fancy journalist terms from time to time.

Yup, you read that right! Our very own Carson Daly is the newest employee at the NBC morning show.

Luckily for us, there’s plenty of Carson to go around, so he’ll still be your morning wake-up call here on AMP Radio.

Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker, and the rest of the team made the big announcement alongside Carson in the TODAY show plaza Thursday morning.

Carson will serve as the TODAY show’s social media expert, or as he likes to call it, your “digital doorman.” He’s all set up in their brand new Orange Room, a state-of-the-art digital studio, which will provide real-time social data and reactions from the web.

“Everything I’ve done in my career up until this point has trained me for TODAY – the interviews, the live TV, the live radio – it all gets paid off,” Carson told TODAY.com. “I was playing in the minor leagues and now I’ve just been called up to the big leagues. It’s amazing that I get to be a small part of the new era and generation of TODAY– not just to be here, but to be here to help build the future of TODAY and serve as the bridge between viewers and the show.”

Carson somehow found time during his jam-packed day to give Booker and Producer Angie a ring during the morning show.

“The last three hours have been such a blur,” he explained. “I love radio and Angie and I always joke that it feels like we’re at breakfast every day together. When you’re in that work environment, I mean, what a great place to be, so to be able to continue that, A, was a really high priority. I’m glad that I will, but it was the same thing [at TODAY]. This felt like TRL again.”

“I want the AMP audience in L.A. to know this is going down,” he added. “I’m still live on every morning. I’ll be done here in time and the radio’s a great place where I can just really be myself and kind of just talk about this next chapter in my life at the TODAY show and I look forward to doing that on the radio on AMP.”

In addition to the TODAY show and AMP RadioCarson will continue his hosting duties at The Voice, which premieres September 23 on NBC.
