New Music From Bruno Mars: ‘Gorilla’

Bruno Mars has been known to write beautiful lyrics.  “Just the Way You Are,” “Grenade,” and “The Lazy Song” are some pretty interesting and fantastically written songs.  And his new song, “Gorilla,” doesn’t disappoint!

Gorilla” is a very sexy song, although no one would think so with that kind of title!  He talks about banging on his chest and the cops being called!  Even the chorus of the song drives his point home: “You and me baby making love like gorillas!”

It has a pretty heavy rock influence with a quiet storm background.  The production is reminiscent of Prince, one of Mr. Mars’ biggest influences.

“Gorilla” was written by The Smeezingtons, a collective writing group that includes Bruno, Ari Levine, and Phillip Lawrence.  It was produced by The Smeezingtons, Emile Haynie (who produced a few tracks for Eminem’s Recovery) and Mark Ronson.  And it sounds pretty darn good!  Listen for yourselves:

“Gorilla” debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 60.  And in case you want to download it, it’s available on iTunes.
