From Carson Daly
If you’re a smaller, unknown artist, one of the best ways to get your song heard is to land a TV commercial or get it played in a movie.
Let’s take, for example, the great singer-songwriter Feist. Let’s be honest, before Feist landed that iPod commercial, none of you knew who she was, but a lot of you pretended like you did to impress your friends.
Feist used to play with a great band you should check out called Broken Social Scene, and she also used to be roommates with Peaches, which, if you’ve never heard of her, listen at your own risk. Peaches is rad.
So, you all remember her song, “1234,” which will now be stuck in your head for the rest of the day, don’t you? After appearing in that iPod commercial, the song went on to be Feist’s biggest hit, her only song to chart, and it earned her a handful of GRAMMY nominations. So, it’s good to get a song on TV.
Well, with the release of the new iPhone comes a new song you should know about because you’ve already asked, or your friends will ask, and you can tell them the band is Sleigh Bells and the song is “Rill Rill.”
