An incredible line up, fireworks, and a surprise group performance were just some of the highlights from Wednesday night’s We Can Survive benefit concert.
The AMP Radio staff showed up in full force to celebrate and if there’s one thing we know how to do well, it’s partying our tails off.
As for the big show itself, Angie couldn’t get over all the amazing performances. Bonnie McKee, Kacey Musgraves, Tegan and Sara, Sara Bareilles, Ellie Goulding, and Katy Perry brought their A-game to the Hollywood Bowl.
Headliner Katy Perry lit up the night sky with pyrotechnics during “Firework,” but also showcased some serious vocal chops during some of her new Prism ballads like “Unconditionally” and “By The Grace of God.”
“Katy Perry, her voice has just gotten better and better,” Angie said. ‘I was thinking she was probably going to sing most of it and maybe have backing tracks, which I’m sure she did, but she belted out every song.”
The ladies closed the show together with an encore performance of “Roar.’
“People went crazy! The crowd was huge. I’ve never seen the Bowl so packed.”
It was a girl power kind of night, which was appropriate considering all the proceeds from the benefit concert go towards a charity dedicated to helping women who’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer.
“I met some women from the Young Survivors Coalition, which is the charity that all the money went to, and they are women who have survived cancer. Strong, strong women, super excited to be there. It was one of those nights where even the men felt like women empowerment there.”
And as they say, after the party, it’s the hotel lobby. When Angie left the hotel at 4:30 this morning to get to work, she had an embarrassing moment of her very own.
“I’m walking through the lobby and all of a sudden this guy is like, ‘Ma’am! Ma’am!’ He is walking behind me with my underwear in his hand!” she exclaimed. “They must’ve fallen out of my bag…I must have turned a million shades of red!”
As for the rest of the AMP staff, we partied through the night until 4am! Why 4am, you ask? That’s when the bar sold out of beer, thanks to us party animals. Work hard, play hard!
