The Voice Recap: Carson Daly Reveals His Favorite Knockouts Of The Night
Well, that’s all folks. The Voice knockouts have come to a close, which means each coach has assembled a team of five artists who are headed to the live shows.
Carson revealed his favorites from last night’s show and shared his thoughts about some of the early frontrunners:
Caroline Pennell was one of the standouts last night for Carson.
“Caroline’s got that kind of Xenia, real simple voice,” he told Producer Angie. “Not a powerhouse like on Team Christina, like Matthew Schuler who went last night and did the Florence [and the Machine] song and killed it. [She’s] much more understated.”
Pennell embraced her indie-pop style with Ingrid Michaelson’s “The Way I Am.”
“She sounds like she’s fluttery, which some girls sing like this and it’s just whimsical and it’s almost luck,” Carson explained. “What Caroline is doing there if you’re really, really listening, which I’m sure you are, she’s actually got incredible control.”
Her opponent, George Horga Jr. put up a good fight with his performance of Ne-Yo’s “Because Of You,” but was under pitch for a good portion of the song.
Caroline, on the other hand, received high praise from Blake Shelton. He dubbed her “the best that there is this season.”
Coach Cee Lo Green agreed, choosing Caroline to move on to the live shows.
Also not to be missed? Team Christina’s Matthew Schuler vs. Will Champlain. Schuler’s been an early favorite even before season five officially premiered.
The live episodes begin Monday at 8pm PT on NBC!
