“For me, I love just being live because all the taping of the battle rounds, the knockout rounds, and the blind auditions are just long days of taping stuff and that’s just not my forte,” Carson told Producer Angie Tuesday morning. “I mean, being a radio DJ, just doing TRL or the TODAY show, I just like being live. That’s all I know how to do.”
Eight contestants will be eliminated on Thursday, so the stakes are high for the 20 remaining vocalists.
Teams Adam and Blake performed Monday night to a packed studio audience.
“I think the theme for the men this year are those sort of raw, raspy, great singers,” Carson explained. “Ray Boudreaux’s got that kind of New Orleans swamp pop that he talks about.”
Even though some critics claimed the coaches were too complimentary last night, there’s no denying there’s a ton of talent up on that stage this time around.
“Constructive criticism is always needed. Any time any of these shows start to be, ‘You’re amazing!’ you know, as a viewer, you’re like, ‘Alright, I get it.’ So it was a good note,” Carson conceded. “But it was a strong night too. I mean, people were really good.”
Team Adam’s James Wolpert has the biggest buzz going into Thursday’s results show. His performance of “Case Of You” has climbed all the way to #5 on the iTunes singles chart.
The playoffs continue tonight at 9pm PT on NBC.
