Eminem’s MMLP2 was released only yesterday, but Billboard is already projecting that the album will debut at #1 on the charts with huge numbers.

Carson couldn’t wait to tear into the new record and was practically bursting at the seams to tell Producer Angie all about it.

“He’s at his finest,” Carson described. “I was telling you, it’s like a prize fighter, like a boxer, who you know, was like big ten years ago and kind of goes away and then just somehow comes back literally so much faster and better than he ever was.”

It’s been three years since the release of Em’s last album, Recovery, but Carson is adamant that the 41-year-old Detroit native hasn’t lost his magic touch.

“He’s a lyrical assassin. I mean, his style has changed. Say what you want about Kanye, but Kanye forces the hip hop meter. He pushes it. It gets you out of that verse, chorus, verse or just, you know, laying down 16 bars and getting somebody like Sia or Rihanna to sing a hook on it. It can get formulaic and it takes Kendrick Lamar or Kanye to come and push it.”

“But then you’ve got Eminem who recognizes that hip hop needs to be pushed and he does! He does that too,” Carson pointed out. He breaks the meter and so the album has those sorts of things happening.”

Today, Carson chose to feature “Rhyme or Reason,” the third track off MMLP2 that samples The Zombies’ “Time Of The Season.”

“This is Em showing off just his style. If you saw him in a cypher, if you saw him battling,” he said. “You’re wondering if he’s slower because he’s kind of the older dude now, 40+. Has he lost a step, if you will? He hasn’t and I think this shows that off, plus sort of his style in which he’s willing to rhyme and rap now.”

“Headlights,” Eminem’s collaboration with fun.’s Nate Ruess, is also one of Carson’s favorites.

“That’s the most telling song Eminem’s ever written. It has to be the most truthful thing he’s ever penned about his mother.”

With 21 tracks on the deluxe edition, Carson assures there’s both mainstream and underground appeal.

“You got the hits. I mean, ‘Berzerk’s’ on there and obviously ‘The Monster’ and all the other stuff, but there’s so much more for rap fans or Eminem fans.”
