Sign Language Interpreter Translates Mandela Memorial Imposter’s Gibberish

If you haven’t heard by now, a totally fake sign language interpreter was somehow able to infiltrate Nelson Mandela’s memorial service.

More than 90,000 people gathered at Johannesburg’s FNB Stadium and witnessed Thamsanqa Jantjie communicate gibberish to the hearing impaired.

Jantjie, who stood just feet away from President Barack Obama, blamed the incident on hallucinations and schizophrenia.

“What happened that day, I see angels come to the stadium … I start realizing that the problem is here,” he said in an interview with the Associated Press. “And the problem, I don’t know the attack of this problem, how will it come. Sometimes I get violent on that place. Sometimes I will see things chasing me.”

Late night host Jimmy Kimmel was fascinated by the whole story and had a real sign language interpreter translate what Jantjie was actually communicating.
