“Beyonce” Album To Debut At #1 On Billboard 200 Chart

We officially declare Beyonce the smartest pop star EVER.

In the wee hours of Thursday night/Friday morning, she released her fifth solo album with no promotion, no announcement, no nothing.

Word spread like wildfire on Twitter, and in just the first three hours, Queen Bey had already pulled in an impressive 80,000 copies in sales. By the day’s end, she reached an astounding 430,000.

Her numbers have continued to skyrocket over the weekend and Billboard is predicting that she will easily capture the top spot on this week’s albums chart.

The music industry website reports that Beyonce could sell up to 600,00 copies by Tuesday, which would make it the highest debut for a female artist since Taylor Swift’s Red.

If Bey’s able to crack 600,000 it would also be a personal best for her. Her most successful first-week of album sales goes to B’Day, debuting with 541,000 in September 2006.

And that, my friends, is precisely why we all “Bow Down” to Beyonce, the queen of viral marketing.
