Today’s Blue Monday Is The Most Depressing Day Of The Year
Are you feeling a little extra bummed out today? Well, science may be able to explain why!
Researchers have dubbed today Blue Monday, otherwise known as the most depressing day of the year.
The finding is based on a three-year British study of negative tweets, which reveal that the first Monday after New Year’s Day is the most miserable day of the year, largely thanks to the end of the holiday vacation season.
Cold weather woes, worries about debt, and failed New Year’s resolutions are also to blame. In fact, tweets about guilt will skyrocket five times higher than usual today due to people falling off the wagon to lose weight, stop smoking, etc.
Legal experts also report that it’s the most popular day to begin divorce proceedings. January is the busiest month for divorce, with twice as many filings as the second most-popular time of year, September.
But hey, there’s only 352 days until Christmas Day 2014, which is routinely voted the happiest day of the year, so mark your calendars for that!
