“The Voice” Wins People’s Choice Award For Favorite Competition TV Show

The beginning of awards show season officially kicked off last night with the People’s Choice Awards.

We love watching all the stars at the Oscars and Golden Globes, but let’s be honest, who cares about what some random critic thinks? It’s all the fans.

Well, the people have spoken and congratulations are in order for our boss Carson Daly and all his friends at The Voice. The hit NBC singing contest won the PCA for Favorite Competition TV Show!

They faced some worthy contenders, including America’s Got Talent, Dancing with the Stars, MasterChef, The X Factor.

Carson happened to be texting back and forth with Cee Lo Green when the good news came in and they could hardly believe it.

“Usually, you know. Your publicist calls you,” Carson explained. “But none of us knew and I was texting with Cee Lo and said, ‘Did you know we just won a People’s Choice Award?’ And he’s like ‘Hell no I didn’t know! That’s awesome!'”

Executive producer Mark Burnett accepted the award on the show’s behalf and coach Christina Aguilera also had a little fun showing off some of her best, ahem, “assets,” during the award show’s opening segment. Skip ahead to 3:30 to see her hilarious cameo:
