Fred Armisen Named Seth Meyers’ Late Night Bandleader: Surfer Stephen’s Viral Video Of The Day

Late Night with Seth Meyers premieres on Monday, February 24th, and it was just announced that he hired former SNL castmate Fred Armisen as the show’s bandleader.

Late night shows have been enlisting well-known musicians as band leaders to add another layer of entertainment to the talk show circuit.

Conan used to have Bruce Springsteen’s drummer, Max Weinberg, and more recently, Jimmy Fallon brought the entire band The Roots when he started his show.

Fred is a very talented comedian and just as talented, if not more so, as a multi-instrumentalist.

He started his career in music as the drummer for Trenchmouth and also put in some time as a member of the Blue Man Group.

He currently appears on the hit TV show Portlandia with his castmate Carrie Brownstein, who in my opinion, is one of the best female guitar players around from her days with Sleater-Kinney.

With that said, good luck to Seth and Fred as they set out to make what looks to be a very funny show in the tough arena that is known as late night TV.

Check out Fred having a drum off with Questlove of The Roots on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon for today’s Viral Video of the Day.

Also, for any of you music heads out there, Armisen did a funny piece with The Clash as his character Ian Rubbish for Funny Or Die.

Fred brings the show some much-respected music credibility.
