Carson Daly Premieres New Shakira Track, “Empire”

With a hot Rihanna collaboration in the books, her tenth studio album on the way, and her return to The Voice, Shakira is proving once again why she’s an international sensation.

Perhaps Shak’s worldwide domination is what inspired her latest track, “Empire.”

Carson got the chance to listen to Shakira’s upcoming record after she stopped by AMP Radio last week and he couldn’t wait to premiere her latest work on our radio airwaves Tuesday morning.

“Empire” is a return to the Colombian pop star’s early music, which was heavily influenced by the rock genre.

“I feel like the critical mass in the United States who know her, know her for, you know, ‘Whenever, Wherever,’ and ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ and shaking her hips and all that pop music and I was trying to say in that interview that I know her from a whole different spectrum of music that she’s done in her career,” he explained.

“A lot of it, a little more rock-based. She loves alternative music. She loves folk and country.”

Shakira’s self-titled album doesn’t go on sale until March 25, but “Empire” is available for purchase right now on iTunes.
