According to multiple sources confirming to Us Weekly, Katy Perry and John Mayer have allegedly ended their year-and-a-half relationship. The former couple began dating in the summer of 2012, and after a brief break, continued their relationship.
They publicly showed off their affections for one another by attending awards shows and parties together, including this year’s GRAMMYs after parties. They also collaborated on the romantic song and music video for “Who You Love,” which was released on Mayer’s most recent album, Wildfire.
In a September interview with Billboard, the “Dark Horse” singer gushed about her beau, saying: “He literally is a genius, as is evident from his songwriting. I’ve been a fan of John’s for years before I actually got to kiss him.”
And in a December appearance on Ellen, she continued to praise their relationship, saying, “We have a lot of fun. We have music as an understanding and love between each other, and we connect. It’s like he understands what I do because he does the same thing. And so after a long day, if it’s been tough, I don’t really have to go into it. He just gets it. So it’s nice with that understanding.”
Perry is currently gearing up for her massive Prismatic World Tour. Both singers have yet to release an official statement at this time.
