Lil Jon started his career in Atlanta as a nightclub DJ and released his first album as Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz in 1997. Called Get Crunk, Who U Wit: Da Album, Lil Jon’s signature style as the King of Crunk was born. The crunk kingdom even translated in Lil Jon’s very own energy drink called Crunk!!!–which is what the Boyz called their “musically intoxicating” fifth album.
After five albums with the East Side Boyz, Lil Jon branched out on his own and did 2010’s Crunk Rock. He also produced tracks for groups like the Yin Yang Twins, Usher, Petey Pablo, LMFAO, Soulja Boy, Waka Flocka Flame, and R. Kelly. After the release of his star-studded solo album, Lil Jon appeared on Celebrity Apprentice–twice.
On top of being a reality television star, Lil Jon’s bass-heavy party anthems have found a perfect place in six different video games like Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland, Def Jam: Icon, and Dance Central 3. He’s also appeared in movies such as Soul Place and Scary Movie 4.
Capitalizing on his international fame, Lil Jon has been hopping on epic EDM bills like Wynn’s New Year’s Eve night with Diplo and Kaskade. But no bill will be as epic as Lil Jon’s DJ set at AMPLIFY 2014 along with Tiësto and Afrojack on the bill! Check out the behind-the-scenes of one of Lil Jon’s DJ sets above!
